Glimmerati Racing 85 Probably the best game I played so far on the deck - Super fun from start to finish set in a rather unique setting, great replayability with all the different routes, fun soundtrack, fun "story" and sadly without the fun webpage integration that the game had during it's haydays.

...if only it wasn't for the final race...

The final boat race is very unfortunately very unreadable (because everything is just a sea of blue on a rather tiny display), and it leaves a rather sour aftertaste after otherwise great game.

That, and the whole "you only have one shot, you lose and you go home" thing the game has going for it - while interesting in concept, that losing an event means losing the entire "run", in practice this just doesn't work because you can always restart the event as long as you don't finish (for some reason).

Pathway to Glory Turn-Based Strategy 80 Been a while since I played this one, so I don't remember specifics, but from what I vaguely remember this WW2 pocket-cramped campaign was an absolute blast to play.

Gameplay-wise the game is amazing, you're not railroaded into percentual chances of hitting/misisng while attacking, you can only increase accuracy (i.e. smaller spread), but the bullets are still there, and whether they hit the enemy or a unit of your own, if the bullet goes through it hits.

Interesting/fun level design, fun use of vehicles, good sountrack, almost everything was done right with this one.

Almost.

Sadly if you manage to keep one unit going for a long time, the game becomes a bit of a joke, as one overleveled unit is capable of taking on 6+ people during the same turn.

That and the isometric camera does not always do the angles justice, which can be a little frustrating.

Pocket Kingdom: Own the World (MMO)RPG 75 Hoo boy, the first ever handheld online/multiplayer game.

A rather interesting concept, very fun as well, the game is basically an autofighter where you create new units by "merging", explore the world, set up traps and defense squads for your own kingdom, all the good stuff. Unfortunately though, I am almost certain that the game introduced "puzzles" of sorts, which's solution are usually certain units that you need to have in your party, but after a while these got a little too abstract for me to solve (especially once the worlds start branching), and as noone really finished the game fully and there's no guide for it (at least for the puzzles, there are guides for the merging recipes, thankfully), it will probably remain unfinished forever now.

Ashen First Person Shooter 70 Many people will tell you this is the best FPS games out for N-Gage out there. Maybe? It is definitely one of the most complete ones, running at a steady framerate with nicer graphics, full blown story, wide weapon variety and what not but at the same time it has a lot of flaws.

The enemies have no grace period (the moment they see you they attack), which can be a bit annoying on the deck with it's weird controls, the enemies that are only visible when you use night vision are incredibly annoying (and too strong too, very punishing), and then there are many other small chapter specific issues (horrible final boss, 45s escape time window in chapter 6, softlocks in some missions).

While challenging though, it is still fun to play, just mayhaps not as good as people would make you beleive it is.

PS: The protagonist's lines are beyond awful lmao

Tom Clancy's Ghost Recon: Jungle Storm First Person Shooter 70 Nothing ever happens - The Game.

It's fun, well made (maybe the best made when it comes to graphics/performance ratio) but incredibly short.

I originally finished the game's campaign with 19(?)% "game completion", and the rest was awarded for replaying the missions on different difficulties and playing under certain limits and what not, I never bothered with that. Fun but very short, with a campaign that lasts like an hour.

Good entry level game though, and one of the cheapest on the second hand market.

Pathway to Glory: Ikusa Islands Turn-Based Strategy 65 This is one of those games which made me retrospectively respect it's predecessor so much more, as it showed me all the small stuff I never noticed that made the original great and which this one just lacked.

The biggest difference had to be the level design, which from the first level to the last is just so much worse, and way more boring. The buildings remained completely unused (that is if there were any to begin with), and overall the game just feels like a trench-abusing stall-fiesta, but outside of that there's quite a lot of minor content straight up missing (obviously nationalities and their voicelines outside of USA/Japan, but also stuff like the Sturmtiger or Trucks capable of carrying multiple units at once).

The only thing that they tried to "innovate" with was a new story, which however was not engaging at all, and the historical background links to the missions are pretty much non-existent compared to the original, these were very abstract connections to real life events which at this point weren't even necessary.

Overall it's just a sequel reusing assets and the same core gameplay but in a way less fun environment, which is very disappointing.

Asphalt: Urban GT Racing 55 While at first glance very nice looking game, it becomes pretty soon very apparent that it will struggle from one massive issue old(er) racing games often had - lack of depth (when it comes to view).

2D Racers are (personally) notoriously annoying to play, as the game becomes more about track memorization (and repetetion) rather than actual driving, and this paired up with some very wide tracks where you can't even see both walls (such as Paris) and an AI which becomes very challenging later on makes for hell on earth on some tracks. Which is a pity, because otherwise the game looks very pretty, has great carlist and for the system it's running on even deep customization, but playing it is just sadly not fun.
